Talk Your Way Out of The Results of Your Behavior

There's a difference in secular and spiritual soul care. Spiritual soul care's endgame is to bring glory to God, not to bring glory to ourselves. You see, spiritual soul care at the end of it is for us to expand the kingdom of God.

It's not for us to set boundaries where our kids get all the trophies from all of our sporting events and for us to look better than everybody else and to feel better than everybody else. It's for us to make disciples in our own home, where we learn to make disciples who make disciples, and we excel in everything we do. Not for pride, but for us to show that the difference in us is not because of us but because of who resides in us.

And it's for us to make sure that we show a difference through taking care of ourselves, guided by the Holy Spirit, and expanding his kingdom. Because everywhere I go, whether large churches, small churches, networks, independent leaders, I keep seeing the same two realities. Number one, ministry often takes priority over intimacy.

And here's the second thing. Leaders try to talk their way out of what they've behaved their way into. Leaders are good talkers, and they often try and talk their way out of what they behaved their way into.
