Your biggest issue in life is not when you're in the lowest places. It's when you're in the highest places. Because we have the tendency to disconnect from the vine and stop abiding with Christ when we're successful.
One of the most dangerous places you can be is actually some of the highest places in ministry success. You can preach powerful sermons while you're feeling spiritually dry. You can counsel others while avoiding your own wounds.
You can build something impressive while your interior life is quietly deteriorating. And most leaders don't fall suddenly. They drift slowly.
They drift slowly. We see implosions that happen publicly online and we think, "Oh man, they just fell yesterday." Most ministry leaders don't wake up and go, "Man, I'm just going to cheat on my spouse today. I'm going to steal some money today.
I'm going to get hooked on an addiction today." No. What happens is, over time, it's a slow drift because they put something over their walk with Jesus. You see, ministry over intimacy happens often.
Most leaders lose intimacy with God long before they lose their ministry.
